CherryLift is an origin to destination transportation service for people whose disability prevents them from using the Cherriots buses some of, or all of the time. CherryLift is funded by the Salem Area Mass Transit District and is operated by Wheels Community Transportation (a program of Oregon Housing and Associated Services).

Who is eligible?

You MAY be eligible if:

  • You have a disability
  • Your disability prevents you from being able to use the Cherriots bus system
How can I apply?

Travel Training Program


Do you desire to learn to ride the Cherriots buses? Does your disability make it difficult for you to ride? Does your disability make it difficult for you to read the maps, schedules, plan your trips and identify your stop?

Then you can receive FREE Travel Training, where a Paratransit Specialist plans the trips and rides with you to your destination.

What is Travel Training?
  • Provides customized service for each person to successfully ride Cherriots and CARTS buses
  • Designed for seniors and people with disabilities
  • Trip planning and route riding
Who can receive FREE Travel Training?
  • Seniors
  • People with disabilities
  • Senior centers or group homes for group training and presentations
What are the benefits of Travel Training?
  • You have independence and flexibility to travel when and where you desire
  • You don't have to preschedule rides
  • Announcements are made at all major intersections and landmarks and can alert you to your stop
  • You can become familiar with your route
How can I sign up?
