Students Ride for Free!

All students enrolled in Salem-Keizer public middle & high schools, private schools, charter schools and home schools, are eligible to ride Cherriots free during the 2010-2011 school year – starting September 7, 2010. The program is funded through a grant from the Oregon Department of Energy.

Our goal is to reduce traffic around local schools by encouraging more students to ride a bus to school and other destinations. This will improve student safety, cut fuel consumption, enhance air quality, and improve the quality of life in our community. Cherriots will NOT replace yellow school bus service, but will expand students’ travel options.

To ride Cherriots for free, a student must have a valid Cherriots identification on their 2010-2011 school photo identification card. With a valid Cherriots sticker or imprint on their ID card students may ride free anytime, anywhere Cherriots serves in the Salem-Keizer area, right through the end of the school year (excludes Routes 1X and 2X).
