Here are five resolutions to improve yourself and your community

It’s a brand-new year and Cherriots wants to help you ring in a fantastic 2019 and keep your resolutions. Here are five easy resolutions that will make a positive difference in your life.

Resolution #1 - lose the holiday weight
Have you already experienced that early-January gym, packed full of resolute exercisers? Why wait for an elliptical machine to open up? Instead, commit to an active transportation trip at least once a week. That means your commute or visit to the grocery store includes a bike ride or a walk to the Cherriots bus stop. By taking these multimodal trips, you’ll build exercise into your day and get those steps without a trip to the gym.

Resolution #2 - find time for myself
We’re all searching for a moment of me-time in this busy culture. Turn your stressful commute into a relaxing Cherriots bus ride. Catch up on that book you’ve been meaning to finish (or start). You can even bring your tea; just make sure it has a lid! Let us do the driving so you can read the news or watch the latest season of your favorite TV show.

Resolution #3 - be kinder to the environment
You read every day about the effects your choices are having on the planet and you want to make some changes. Join Drive Less Connect to find a carpool or vanpool for your commute. You’ll reduce congestion on the roads and your carbon footprint. You can even track your trips on Drive Less Connect. We’ll tell you how much CO2 you’ve kept out of the atmosphere (and how much money you’ve kept in your pocket)!

Resolution #4 - engage with my community
We hear stories all the time about Cherriots riders meeting kind and interesting people on the bus whom they wouldn’t otherwise encounter. Riding the bus helps you see your community from a different angle and meet new people. As our city grows and changes, riding Cherriots is a great way to make a new friend and hear some great stories.

Resolution #5 - save more money
Have you already committed to giving up the $5 latte on weekdays? Take the next step and use Cherriots for your commute to save some real dough. A household can save nearly $10,000 a year by taking public transportation and living with one less car. That’s a lot of lattes!

In 2019, Cherriots will be restoring Saturday service, extending service to later hours on weekdays, and introducing a new youth fare that will make it more affordable for families to travel together. It’s going to be a great year and we’re here to help you keep your resolutions!
