Transit Operator and Maintenance Worker Appreciation Day 2018

News Icon Icon of a newspaper.

Thanks for keeping us moving

Our dedicated Transit Operators and Maintenance team members work hard to deliver the best service possible for you, our riders. Their jobs are not easy, but they demonstrate patience, professionalism, and skill each day. Moreover, they display a commitment to deliver safe, friendly, and reliable transportation for the residents of Salem-Keizer and the surrounding area.

We're celebrating Transit Operator and Maintenance Worker Appreciation Day on March 16. We've collected words of encouragement and thanks so we can share them with our team on that day. We'll also be providing refreshments in the Operator break room areas and the Maintenance lunch room. Administrative staff will have the opportunity to stop by and thank them for the great job they perform.

If you'd like to join in on the celebration, send your kind words to with the subject, "Appreciation Day." You can also pick up a thank you card from Customer Service and give it to your bus driver on Friday, March 16. Here are some of the compliments we've gathered already:

"I would like to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to all transit operators, maintenance workers, security at the transit stations, and all others who work behind the scenes to deliver the best service to your community and riders. It takes a tremendous amount of coordination between the community, operators, and City officials as well as input from Cherriots riders to make it all comes together and continue to be an integral part of the State's Capitol City. I may not know all of your names, but I am always appreciative of a little conversation, a smile, and the valuable service to your community that you are providing. Well done Cherriots!"
